For Charter Boat Customers

Turn Your Catch Into a One-of-a-Kind Keepsake

You’ve booked the fishing trip. Now you can preserve the memory long after you leave the dock.

Inked Fin Co. offers dockside Gyotaku fish printing for charter guests who want to turn one of their catches into an original piece of artwork.

Gyotaku is the traditional art of creating an impression directly from an actual fish. Your print captures the true size, shape, scales, fins, and individual characteristics of the fish you caught.

Your fish. Your trip. Your story.

How It Works

1. Reserve Your Gyotaku Experience

Sign up before your charter so Inked Fin Co. can coordinate with your captain and know when your boat is expected back at the dock.

You do not need to know what fish you will catch ahead of time.

A $30 reservation deposit is required to reserve your dockside Gyotaku experience. The full deposit is applied toward the price of your fish print.

2. Go Fishing

Enjoy your charter as usual.

If you catch a fish you would like to preserve as artwork, let your captain know you signed up for the Inked Fin Co. Gyotaku experience.

3. Pick Your Fish

At the end of your trip, choose the legally retained fish you would like us to print.

Your price is based primarily on the size of the fish you select.

4. We Meet You at the Dock

Inked Fin Co. coordinates with your charter captain and meets the boat at the scheduled return time.

We prepare your fish and create the impression directly from your actual catch.

5. Your Fish Can Still Be Cleaned

We use non-toxic, food-safe printing materials.

After the Gyotaku process is complete, your fish can still be cleaned and filleted so you can take your catch home just as you normally would.

Gyotaku Pricing

Pricing is based on the length of the fish you choose to have printed.

Classic Impression — Up to 20 Inches

$59 per fish

A great option for many smaller inshore and reef species, including snapper, sheepshead, pompano, and smaller trout.

Signature Impression — 21 to 30 Inches

$109 per fish

Ideal for medium-sized catches such as redfish, snook, hogfish, larger snapper, and smaller grouper.

Trophy Impression — 31 to 40 Inches

$149 per fish

Designed for larger catches such as grouper, large snook, cobia, kingfish, and trophy-size inshore fish.

Trophy Fish — 41 Inches and Larger

Starting at $199 per fish

Extra-large fish may require additional material, preparation, and printing time. We will confirm the final price with you before creating the print.

You do not have to know which size you will need when you reserve. The appropriate pricing level is determined by the fish you choose after your trip.

$30 Dockside Reservation & Setup Deposit

A $30 deposit is required to reserve your Inked Fin Co. dockside Gyotaku experience.

Your reservation means we are setting aside time specifically for your fishing trip, coordinating with your charter captain, traveling to the marina or dock, and preparing the materials and equipment needed to create your fish print.

If you have a Gyotaku print created, the full $30 deposit is applied toward the price of your print. It is not an additional charge.

If your charter is cancelled and the fishing trip does not take place, your $30 deposit will be refunded.

You may also cancel your Gyotaku reservation before your fishing trip leaves the dock. If you cancel the fish-printing service before departure, your $30 deposit will be refunded.

Once your fishing trip has departed, the deposit becomes non-refundable because Inked Fin Co. has committed the scheduled time, travel, preparation, and dockside availability for your trip.

If a Gyotaku print is not completed following your trip, your $30 deposit does not go to waste. The full amount can instead be used as a $30 credit toward eligible apparel or merchandise available through the Inked Fin Co. website.

Merchandise credits must be used within 90 days of the fishing trip, have no cash value, and are not refundable.

This allows us to reserve the time needed to provide a personalized dockside experience while still giving you flexibility before your trip and value from your deposit afterward.

What Is Included on My Print?

Your finished Gyotaku can include details that help tell the story of your catch:

  • Fish species
  • Date of your catch
  • Charter boat company
  • Inked Fin Co. artist stamp

Including the charter company also makes it easy to remember exactly who put you on that fish when you are ready to book another trip.

Every Print Is Different

Gyotaku is not meant to look like a computer-generated illustration or a perfect photograph.

The natural shape of the fish, its scales, fins, body texture, and the way the ink transfers all contribute to the finished artwork.

Some areas may print darker than others. Fins may have broken or uneven impressions. Ink may naturally blot, skip, or fade in certain areas.

These natural imperfections are part of what makes each Gyotaku print unique.

There will never be another print exactly like yours.

What Can I Do With My Gyotaku?

Your original fish print can become a permanent reminder of your fishing trip.

You can:

  • Frame the original print for your home, office, fishing room, or beach house
  • Create a unique gift from a memorable catch
  • Display it alongside photos from your fishing trip
  • Have your fish artwork reproduced through Inked Fin Co.
  • Turn your actual catch into select shirts, apparel, coffee mugs, and other merchandise from Inked Fin Co.

Instead of having another picture stored on your phone, you can have something created directly from the fish you caught.

What If I Do Not Catch the Fish I Want?

That is part of fishing.

Reserving your Gyotaku experience lets us know you are interested and allows us to coordinate with your charter captain.

You do not have to decide which fish will become your Gyotaku until you see what you catch.

If you have questions about your trip or the type of fish you are hoping to print, contact us before you head out.
